So...I figured this summer is something completely new for me and I feel like the easiest way to keep people like my family, friends, and lovely professors (lets be honest, just Tina) up to date on all these new experiences, I would just start a blog so I don't have to tell the same story 57 times. Those of you reading this should be aware that what I am talking about is that I first start my journey to NYC for a week and then am off to Rapid City for my practicum/internship (yes, finally, Linsey's first job).
Today I finished the last day of my junior year in the interior design program by taking what I hope to be the last math course I ever need to take, lets hope I got the 3.5 questions correct that I needed in order to pass the course. Any who, to graduate I must do a travel study and this year New York City is what was offered and where I will be going this Sunday, it still has not really hit me. I have always wanted to go to the concrete jungle, but unfortunately the women in my family decided I didn't qualify for the mother daughter trip in 2003. Now that I am grown up and am required to go on a trip they are now paying the 2,000 dollars and 3 credits later for this trip. I win. This trip will consist of so much more such as touring places such as Henri Bendel, Armani Exchange, Saks Fifth Avenue, RMC USA, Yabu Pushelberg, Calvin Klein, Herman Miller, and a few more. We will also be going to the Broadway show Chicago. I hope my bank account can handle all this and if anyone wants to donate please let me know! :) I'm excited to go but I can't say I won't miss the clean air, relaxed life, and not to mention the little pigs at the farm. Let's hope I don't over pack, at the moment I am at 30.2 pounds! I will post pictures as the trip goes we have evenings free so I hope to run around like a tourist. If anyone has any suggestions where to visit please feel free to let me know. I am kinda winging this trip haha.
As for my internship I will be living with my lovely Aunt Helen in Rapid City and fulfilling my 280 hours with AcV2 architecture. I am super jacked to spend the summer with the two lovely ladies, Patri and Emily. They totally rock and are super chill and I don't think I could have picked a better fit for myself. I feel like Patri is me in like 10 years which is way okay. I will be doing everything with them that they will let me and not to add I will be in their new office at the Dahl Arts Center! Whooot! Check them out on Facebook or their website(http://acv2architecture.com/) to see what I will be involved with!
Let me also add that in between NYC and RC I will be moving to a new apartment and spending a week and half here in Brookings and being a farmer :)
Here is a little photo of my packing extravaganza. As for little Ham, expect him to be in most photos, he is coming to be Pig in the City!
